Running Inspiration

Complete the run <3

Running away will never set you free…

You are strong. You are fast. You will finish.

This is my self mantra while I run. I may not be fast, I may not be consistant, but I run.

In the last few years I have picked up running for fitness reasons, last year I ran my first ever relay race for the Akron Maraton and I loved it! I could not wait to get signed up again this year.Tomorrow morning I will complete the 5.5 mile leg of the marathon relay race.

I never thought I could run, then I trained to run a half mile, I pushed myself to a whole mile, then two miles and so on and so forth. It doesn’t come naturally to everyone, but with persistance and hard work you can train to run too.

If you’re looking for some help on creating a training regimine there are a lot of really great websites devoted to helping the less active become runners in a 12 - 18 week program.

Here are some really great websites if you are interested in learning more about creating a training program:

Practicing Kindness...

Since today the majority of my posts have been about yoga, I thought I would take a few seconds to discuss kindness.

When a yogi gets to their mat, it is often important to have a lesson in mind - what should I practice today?

Today when I get to my mat I will practice kindness, not only to those around me but to myself. It is important to let go of self doubt and the feeling that you aren’t good enough.

Be kind to yourself and see your light shine through. :-)

Yoga Benefits

Just sharing some of the many benefits of yoga! Get to your mats and your happy place!

Yoga is good for the soul...

As an amature Yogi, I have found that Yoga is definitely the best medicine for your mind, body and soul. I cannot talk enough about the benefits that can be found from an hour of yoga.

Most recently I’ve started attending hot yoga classes, in which the room is heated to 90 degrees. While it is challenging it is definitely rewarding. After an hour of yoga not only is your mind clear from the thoughts of the day, but your body feels stretched and relaxed.

When I began yoga I could barely hold a down dog for 20 seconds (the most basic of yoga moves), now i’m able to hold and complete a number of more challenging moves in that 60 minute time period.

Is hot yoga for everyone? Probably not at first. Amature yogi’s should start with a class that is more about learning your body and figuring out how to complete yoga stretches with good form.
If you’re looking for a new challenge, or just looking to take a mental vacation look for yoga studios in your area!

Good luck and Happy Wednesday!

A little food for thought...

"Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with it’s yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could."

When you start at the bottom you can only move up...

The goal: This blog will be dedicated to sharing stories, thoughts and opinions through blogs, videos, photos and any other random thing found on the internet.

My aim is not to moan and complain about the troubles of being a twenty-something, but to express insight into topics that I believe every twenty-something deals with.

Will I appeal to everyone?

Probably not, but I would like to create a sharing forum where individuals can respecfully include insight in order to start a mature conversation through a mediated forum.

I may not be an expert on much of anything, but I’ve been through enough in this short life to understand that not everything is fun and easy all of the time.

Stay tuned to see what comes next!
